About
The History of Hebron Christian Academy
The school was established as Hebron Christian Academy on the 15th day of August 2000, when it was taken over from the then owner, Reverend Gerrit Nel who operated under the name of Simeon Christian Academy since 1997.
The original site of the school was a warehouse situated at 4 Lynnwood Drive, Mabille Park, Kuils River.
The school moved to its current premises at 21b Digtebij Crescent, Mabille Park, Kuils River, during July 2000. This move was necessitated by the sale of the warehouse and as tenants the school was forced to find alternative accommodation.
On the 15th August 2000, the number of registered learners was 109, of which only 30 were actual fee paying members. This was as a result of a financial payment agreement between the parents and the previous owners.
These learner numbers reduced to 76 in 2001 and by a further 24 to 52 in 2002.
Thereafter, school numbers started to grow again and we currently have 190 learners enrolled at the school with a staff complement of 25 members.
The school originally utilized the “Accelerated Christian Education” (A.C.E) Curriculum which is provided by School of Tomorrow.
In order to address the poor image of the school as well as certain business operating discrepancies, Pastor Stuart Farquhar was appointed as the Business Manager of the ministry including the school and church.
Simeon Christian Academy was taken over by Pastor Stuart Farquhar on 15th August 2000 with the sanction of all the parents as well as by the ACE regional management
The new school management team proposed that the curriculum be changed to the Government’s Revised National Curriculum Statement (RNCS) in 2004 as it was established that the existing (A.C.E) “American” modular curriculum was not suitable to the diverse needs of our learners nor to the compliance requirements and standards prescribed by the National Department of Education (South Africa).
The name of the school was changed to Hebron Christian Academy to herald a fresh start.
The name Hebron means unity and allegiance. The choice of this name was done prayerfully. Hebron, according to the Bible was the place which Abraham chose after he had given Lot the opportunity to choose the best land and when they separated, Lot chose Bethel and Abraham chose to settle in Hebron. Hebron was a rocky place depicting hardships, but even through the hardships God blessed Abraham mightily.
We believe that even though times may be difficult, God will bless the school and fulfil the vision given to us to prosper this school to the benefit of all the communities of Kuilsriver and surrounding suburbs.
